How to Find the Best Dress For Prom

Do you want to be the most fashion forward person at prom? I am here to help you do that. Being fashion forward doesn’t mean you have to have the most expensive dress. It is all about how you style the dress to fit your personality, body shape and look.

  1. Determine your style:
Everyone has their own style. A way of dressing that feels the most you. Take a look at your closet. The pieces that you wear the most often are keys to uncover your style. Line up those pieces and try to use 3 key words that would link all those pieces together. For example, Girly, Lace and Floral / Dark, Graphic and edgy
  2.  Find the most flattering Fit/Cut of the dress for your body shape: This step is super important. Crop top and a maxi skirt might be the trendy thing to do right now. However if you are wider in the mid section crop top might not be the most flattering cut for you. If you are a perfect hour glass then princess ball gown will hide your curves and will not be the most flattering cut for your body shape. Make sure you go into different store and try on different dress shapes so you can determine  what is the best dress shape for your body.
  3. Pick a Flattering Color Scheme for your skintone: If you have a cool undertone (meaning your vains are blue or purple) then Jewel tone colours will look the best (Eg. pure white, black, royal blue and pink) If you have a warm undertone (meaning your vains are greenish/olive) then Earth tone will look better on you (Eg. Ivory, brown, orange and green).
  4. Accessorize: You don’t have to go over the top with accessories. Best rule to wearing accessory is to always take off 1 after you have finish with accessorizing. Most people tend to over accessorize. Another easy to follow rule is – Choose 2 our of 3 –  Meaning if you go with a necklace then you can either go with a bracelet or a pair of earrings (Never bother). So out of the 3 being necklace, earrings or bracelet you can only wear 2
  5. Look up Inspiration: If you are still stuggling feel free to look up fashion magazine, fashion blogger or celebrity for inspirations to help you look the best on your prom.
  6. Remember be true to yourself and wear something comfortable, you don’t want to spend the whole prom night trying to keep a dress from falling down. Here are some examples of creative prom dresses that is fashion forward this year:

The crop top and long dresses are so in this year. Seen on many celebrity. You can mix match the colour like taylor swift did or match the colours like RiRi did. The best thing about wearing this to prom is that you can break up the crop top and skirt and wear it again.

Cavalli- the right kind of hippie and glamour.:

The bohemian style has made a major come-back this year. With store such as Free-people and anthropologie poping up. Wearing Boho style dresses to prom will make you stand out. Grab some flower crown or choker. light colour lace dress or fringe dress and a pair of boots. You are good to go.

An Idiot's Guide to Hipster Living

Recently there is a boom of websites selling interesting interior decorations catering to the “Hipster” subculture. This subculture is still evolving and ever changing. However, according to Urban Dictionary, Hipsters are a subculture of men and women typically in their 20's and 30's that value independent thinking, counter-culture, progressive politics, an appreciation of art and indie-rock, creativity, intelligence, and witty banter. Although “hipsterism” is really a state of mind, it is also often intertwined with distinct fashion sensibilities. Hipsters reject the culturally-ignorant attitudes of mainstream consumers, and are often be seen wearing vintage and thrift store inspired fashions, tight-fitting jeans, old-school sneakers, and sometimes thick rimmed glasses. The “effortless cool” urban bohemian look of a hipster is exemplified in Urban Outfitters and American Apparel ads. Despite misconceptions based on their aesthetic tastes, hipsters tend to be well educated and often have liberal arts degrees, or degrees in maths and sciences, which also require certain creative analytical thinking abilities. Consequently many hipsters tend to have jobs in the music, art, and fashion industries.

Hipster interior decoration websites/blogs are:
Caviar 20
Restoration Hardware
Hipster Home
Hipster online clothing & shoes stores consist of:
Nasty Gal
Pixie Market
Urban Outfitters
If after visiting these sites, the desire to become even more hipster is still there then here are some interior decoration tips to make anyone a true hipster.

hipster-home 1. Get a clock on the wall – not just any clock – one with the weirdest design that will make anyone go “WTF?” The more un

practical the better. For example, a clock without numbers or a clock that is not in a shape of a circle.
2. Find a letter in the alphabet and just hang it on the wall – Random letters with cool texture just screams creativity. You can also get a bunch of vintage frames or mirrors and do some sort of DIY like spray painting it gold and just collage them together. The more random and diverse the frames are the more hipster looking it will become.
3. Brick wall something. Brick wall indoors is just so rebellious and…. wait for it…. so hipster. In this case there is a column in the middle of the room that is made out of brick. Feel free to grab a hammer and beat it up a little bit. Remember, old stuff screams hipster.
4. Print a bunch of Tumblr or Instagram photos preferably pictures of rocks, eyes and sun set. Turn them black and white and hung them on a cloth line.
5. Bicycle is… a form of transportation? Sorry, that is no longer true. To hipster, they are wall decor.
6. Having a closet is sooo mainstream. Being a hipster is all about displaying your clothes on a clothing rack – makes it easier to put together outfits.
7. Macbook on the floor.
8. Homemade rug or looks like homemade rug.
9. Magazines about bands no one has ever heard of stack together on the floor as decoration.
10. Vintage camera – it does not have to actually be able to take pictures
11. Technology that looks old such as a typewriter, but it is actually an Ipad dock.
12. Overpriced tumbler cups everywhere
13. Last, but not least… Vintage big frame glasses – HIP…S…TER – with a mustache necklace will be even better.
